What PicoRank tracks (and how the pricing adds up)
A plain-English tour of what PicoRank measures — Google positions per country and device type — and how the flat plans keep the bill predictable.
By the PicoRank team · updated
PicoRank answers one question well: where does your site rank for the keywords you care about? It checks that across the dimensions that actually move rankings — priced in small flat plans, not per lookup.
The four dimensions
Every keyword you track is measured across a combination of:
- Domain — the site you’re tracking.
- Search engine — Google on every plan; on Pro and Multi-Pro a keyword can point at any engine we support.
- Geography — results differ by country, so you pick from 150+ of them (city-level on Pro and Multi-Pro).
- Device type — desktop and mobile rankings diverge, so they’re tracked separately — and both are always included.
The billing unit is the keyword slot: one keyword on one search engine in one geography. The same keyword tracked in two countries is two slots. Devices never multiply anything — every slot covers desktop and mobile, where many trackers would count them as two keywords.
Weekly updates on every plan — plus a button
Positions refresh on a schedule, including on the Free plan — no daily noise, just a clear weekly trend line (that’s a deliberate choice). And whenever you add or change what you track, PicoRank re-checks it automatically, so new keywords get their first positions right away.
How pricing follows usage
Plans are flat: Free covers 20 keyword slots, Starter ($9/mo) 200, Pro ($29/mo) 1,000, and Multi-Pro ($89/mo) pools 4,000 across five domains. A slot is one keyword on one engine, one device, in one geography — so tracking a keyword on both desktop and mobile uses two slots — and $4 packs of 200 slots stretch a tier, which keeps the pricing page refreshingly short.
Start on the Free plan (1 domain, Google, 1 geography, one device, 20 slots, no card) and upgrade only when your tracking outgrows it.
